Appointments to the District Court

The Government decided at their meeting yesterday to nominate the following persons for appointment by the President as judges of the District Court:

•        Mr. Victor Blake

•        Mr. David Kennedy,  

•        Ms. Heather Perrin

These three additional posts were created by Section 32 of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2008.

Mr. Victor Blake received a B.A. in Mathematics, History and Sociology from St. Patrick's College in 1974 and qualified as a solicitor in 1979.  From 1981 to 2006, Mr. Blake ran his own practice in Lucan, Co. Dublin and continues to act as a Consultant Solicitor to the firm.   Mr. Blake's practice includes such areas as conveyancing, chancery, wills and probate, contract and tort as well as criminal work.

Mr. David Kennedy, studied at UCD and the College of Marketing and Design before qualifying as a barrister in 1993.  He practised in Dublin from 1993 to 1994, and thereafter on the South-Western Circuit also.   Mr. Kennedy has wide experience in civil and criminal law.  

Ms. Heather Perrin attended Trinity College and the Incorporated Law Society, qualifying as a solicitor in 1983.  Since 1994, Ms Perrin has been a sole practitioner with experienced in conveyancing, litigation, family law, probate and criminal work.
