Noel Ahern T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Sean Power T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children today announced that the Government has approved the allocation of €4.043m from the Dormant Accounts Fund to 122 projects nationwide to provide community based supports for the elderly.

Commenting today at the CSO Quarterly National Household Survey release for the third Quarter 2006, the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State, Mr. Tom Kitt, T.D., said: “I welcome today’s figures, which show that the number of people in employment grew by over 83,000 or 4.2% in the year to reach 2,073,300. The numbers of people in employment have once again increased and are now at historic high levels.”
The Estimates, together with the Budget in a few weeks and the new National Development Plan in January are part of a thought out and costed plan for Ireland's future. To build a stronger fairer, Ireland, we must first of all sustain a strong economy.
