Appointment of President of the High Court
Following its meeting of today 6 October, 2009 the Government wishes to announce its decision to nominate the Honourable Mr. Justice Nicholas Kearns for appointment by the President to the forthcoming vacancy of President of the High Court.
This vacancy arises on the 27 October, 2009 when the serving President of the High Court, the Honourable Mr. Justice Richard Johnson, retires.
The Government will take the necessary steps to formally advise President McAleese, of the nomination in accordance with Constitutional procedures.
