Publications 2009
This tenth annual report of the Department of the Taoiseach provides an overview of the Department’s work during 2008, and reports on progress in meeting the priorities outlined in our Strategy Statement 2008-2010. As in our last report, this report is based largely on the Department’s 2009 Annual Output Statement, which sets out the targets for 2008 (based on the objectives in the Strategy Statement), the extent to which these targets were achieved, and the targets for 2009. In this way we hope to make the links between targets, achievements, and expenditure clearer and more easily tracked from year to year.
The Department’s Official Languages Scheme commenced with effect from 21 December 2009. The Scheme sets out the extent to which services are currently available through Irish, and identifies areas for future enhancement.

Our initial Programme for Government made clear that its delivery was based on a growth rate of 4.5%. It was negotiated prior to the worst global downturn since the 1930s. Our review is about ensuring the Programme for Government reflects current economic realities.
Achievement of the goals set out in both documents, subject to resources, will provide the political basis of Government action, until we complete our term in 2012.
