Minister of State and Chief Whip's Private Office
The following is a brief outline of the ongoing duties in the Whip's Office:-
Liaising with the various Offices in Leinster House re Dáil business of Dáil Eireann
getting the Order of Business cleared and providing the Ceann Comhairle with the list of speakers for each topic.
The Taoiseach's Office has also to be kept informed of what is happening.
Update Bills on Dáil and Seanad Order Papers Dáil before the Order of Business.
Ensuring there are sufficient Government speakers on each item of Dáil business (regularly ringing TDs to ask if they will speak - sometimes at a minute's notice)
Monitoring the business in the House constantly. Monitor Private Member's Business (Private Member's Business is shared with Fine Gael and Labour) and takes place from 7.00 to 8.30 on a Tuesday and Wednesday.)
Prepare the Order of Business each day.
Do brief for Whip's Meeting and attend same.
Send out Whip and Schedule every Thursday.
Keeping the Minister's Diary.
