What does this Law do?

This new law provides for the extension of the legal basis of the obligation of drivers to provide a preliminary breath specimen.The Act extends the grounds on which member of the Garda Síochána may require a driver to provide a preliminary (breathalyser) breath specimen to include situations where a member is of the opinion that a person in charge of a mechanically propelled vehicle was involved in a collision or had committed a traffic offence.
